ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Apr, 2026) Federal Ombudsman Naveed Kamran Baloch called on the Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court, Justice Sardar Muhammad Sarfraz Dogar, at the Islamabad High Court, Press release issued here on Sunday.
During the meeting, matters related to the provision of justice to the general public and resolution of public grievances were discussed.
Both sides exchanged views on institutional cooperation, transparency, and strengthening the accountability system to make it more effective in addressing public issues. The Federal Ombudsman informed the Chief Justice that over 261,000 complaints were decided in the past year, out of which 97% have already been implemented. He further stated that these decisions were made within the stipulated period of 60 days.
The Ombudsman also highlighted that no lawyer is required to file a complaint, nor is there any fee involved. Offices of the Federal Ombudsman are operating in 28 cities across Pakistan, providing free justice to citizens near their homes. Additionally, officers of the Ombudsman Secretariat visit remote areas and conduct open courts (Khuli Kachehris) to ensure prompt redressal of public complaints.
The Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court appreciated the important role of the Federal Ombudsman in providing free and speedy justice to citizens against maladministration in government institutions. Both sides agreed to enhance access to justice and strengthen coordination between institutions, while emphasizing further improvement in the system for effective redressal of public complaints.
