FESCO ensures quality transformer repairs to strengthen power supply system: CE Operation

FAISALABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 30th Apr, 2026) Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) Chief Engineer Operation Muhammad Munawar Khan on Thursday said that high-quality repair of transformers was imperative to enhance their lifespan and improve uninterrupted electricity supply.

He visited the Transformer Reclamation Workshop and expressed satisfaction over its performance. During his detailed visit to the workshop, the chief engineer inspected various sections and reviewed ongoing repair activities.

He appreciated the professional capabilities of officers and staff, noting that their efforts were contributing to improved operational efficiency. He carried out a comprehensive inspection of different units including coil winding, core assembly, oil filtration, testing, heat oven, and final inspection sections.

He directed that no compromise should be made on quality during major and minor repairs of transformers and emphasized that each unit must undergo complete testing in accordance with prescribed technical standards before being dispatched to field offices.

Muhammad Munawar Khan stressed that enhancing the lifespan of transformers through quality repairs and minimizing faults should remain a top priority of the organization. He instructed strict adherence to safety protocols, maintenance of accurate records and expediting the repair process without compromising standards.

On the occasion, Deputy Director Transformer Reclamation Workshop Muhammad Saeed Raza briefed the chief engineer that the workshop was repairing distribution transformers of various capacities with the help of modern equipment and trained staff.

He informed that from July 01, 2025 to March 2026, total 2,365 transformers had been repaired, which helped ensure timely restoration of faulty units and improved electricity supply. Out of these, 1,627 transformers were repaired in Faisalabad including 233 of 25 KVA, 491 of 50 KVA, 398 of 100 KVA, 417 of 200 KVA and 88 of other capacities.

Similarly, 556 transformers were repaired in Sargodha Circle including 114 of 25 KVA, 139 of 50 KVA, 183 of 100 KVA, 100 of 200 KVA, and 20 of other categories.

In Mianwali workshop, total 182 transformers were repaired, comprising 96 of 50 KVA, 66 of 100 KVA and 20 of 200 KVA.

He further said that transformer workshops established in Faisalabad, Sargodha and Mianwali were fully operational and carrying out daily repairs of faulty transformers to ensure prompt relief to consumers.

The operational efficiency of these workshops had reduced repair time and improved field operations, he added.

He said that FESCO was utilizing all available resources to ensure uninterrupted and quality electricity supply while transformer reclamation workshops were playing a pivotal role in achieving this objective.

Officials and staff including assistant directors, foremen and technical personnel were also present during the visit.
