FIA arrests four over hawala-hundi, copyright violations

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 7th Jun, 2026) Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Lahore Zone has arrested four suspects during separate raids for their alleged involvement in hawala-hundi operations and violations of the Copyright Act.

FIA spokesperson told media on Sunday that the raids were conducted by the FIA Corporate Crime Circle Lahore at different locations in the provincial capital. Two suspects, identified as Shahid Ilyas and Shahid Nazir, were arrested for allegedly running illegal Currency exchange and hawala-hundi businesses.

During the operation, FIA recovered Pakistani currency worth Rs20.4 million from the suspects. Foreign currency including 1,080 US Dollars, 320 Australian dollars, 4,015 UAE Dirhams, 85 British Pounds and 160 Saudi Riyals was also seized.

Documentary records and digital evidence related to hawala-hundi transactions were recovered from their possession.

In separate actions, FIA arrested Noor-ul-Mujtaba and Arsalan Imtiaz for their alleged involvement in violations of the Copyright Act. The suspects were found in possession of a large quantity of counterfeit products of well-known registered companies.

The spokesperson said the suspects were allegedly involved in stocking and selling fake branded products. Further investigation into the cases is underway.
