FIA arrests visa fraud agent for swindling Rs9.5m from job seeker

FAISALABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 3rd Jun, 2026) The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Faisalabad has arrested a suspected human smuggling agent on charge of defrauding a citizen of Rs9.5 million by promising employment in Dubai.

According to FIA officials, the accused identified as Faisal Raza son of Abdul Razzaq, a resident of Kishan Pura Faisalabad, was taken into custody during an operation targeting human smugglers and fraudulent travel agents operating in the region.

The arrest was made in connection with FIR No.07/2025, registered on January 08, 2025 under Sections 17 and 22 of the Immigration Ordinance, 1979, at FIA Police Station Faisalabad.

Initial investigations revealed that the accused allegedly received Rs9.5 million from the complainant on the pretext of arranging a work visa and employment opportunity in Dubai.

However, despite collecting the amount, the accused neither secured overseas employment for the victim nor fulfilled the commitments made in return for the payment.

FIA officials said that the accused had been misleading citizens through false promises of foreign jobs and exploiting their aspirations for overseas employment.

The FIA launched an inquiry after receiving a complaint and gathered sufficient evidence before proceeding with the arrest.

Following the arrest, FIA initiated legal proceedings against the accused and shifted him into custody for further interrogation.

FIA officials further said that the investigators are also probing the possible involvement of other facilitators and attempting to identify additional victims who may have been defrauded through similar schemes. Further investigation into the case is underway.
