Filtration plant fails to supply drinking water to residents in Nawabshah

NAWABSHAH, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 30th Mar, 2026) A serious shortage of clean drinking water has emerged in Nawabshah, causing significant concern among residents.

Despite the passage of nearly 14 years since the installation of a filtration plant aimed at providing safe drinking water, the facility has failed to function effectively.

According to reports, the project was initiated in 2012 at a cost of millions of rupees to ensure the supply of clean water to the citizens. However, due to some unavoidable issues and a lack of proper maintenance, the filtration plant has remained largely non-operational.

Residents have complained that the water being supplied is contaminated, posing serious health risks.

Many citizens are suffering from waterborne diseases, while others are forced to purchase expensive drinking water from private suppliers.

Local authorities have been urged to take immediate action to restore the filtration plant and ensure the availability of clean drinking water. Citizens have also demanded a transparent investigation into the matter to determine the reasons behind the failure of the project.
