Ministry of Finance says meetings will take place in Washington, D.C. from April 13 to 18, with Pakistan set to present its economic outlook, reform agenda and investment potential at various multilateral and bilateral forums
ISLAMABAD: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-April 11th, 2026) Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb departed for the United States to attend the 2026 Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group, where he is scheduled to hold a series of high-level engagements.
The Ministry of Finance said that the meetings will take place in Washington, D.C. from April 13 to 18, with Pakistan set to present its economic outlook, reform agenda and investment potential at various multilateral and bilateral forums.
Ahead of the formal sessions, the minister will visit Boston to participate in a conference at Harvard University, where he will interact with academics, policymakers and members of the Pakistani diaspora.
During the visit, Aurangzeb will attend events hosted by the IMF and World Bank, alongside more than 50 meetings with global financial leaders, development partners and investors.
On the sidelines, he is expected to meet senior officials of international financial institutions, including Anna Bjerde, Makhtar Diop and Tsutomu Yamamoto, as well as IMF representatives such as Nigel Clarke and Jihad Azour.
He will also hold meetings with officials from the US State Department and Treasury, and engage with US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer to discuss avenues for strengthening bilateral economic cooperation and supporting Pakistan’s reform programme.
As part of efforts to attract investment, the finance minister is scheduled to meet representatives of major global financial institutions, including Citibank, JPMorgan Chase, Franklin Templeton and Rothschild & Co.
He will also hold discussions with counterparts from key partner countries, including China, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Türkiye and the United Kingdom.
Among key engagements, Aurangzeb will attend the G-24 finance ministers’ meeting and participate in policy dialogues on global economic stability, financial reforms and climate finance.
A major highlight of the visit will be Pakistan’s participation in a World Bank-hosted roundtable on digital social protection, where the country will present its experience with the Benazir Income Support Programme.
The minister is also expected to attend investment forums, participate in an event promoting Roshan Digital Accounts in collaboration with the State Bank of Pakistan, and meet representatives of global credit rating agencies, including Fitch Ratings, Moody’s and S&P Global. He is also scheduled to speak at the Atlantic Council.
The finance ministry said the visit reflects Pakistan’s proactive engagement with the global economic community and its commitment to macroeconomic stability, structural reforms and sustainable growth.
