First TPA injection administered at ATH, marking major breakthrough in stroke treatment

ABBOTTABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Mar, 2026) Ayub Teaching Hospital Friday has achieved a major milestone by successfully administering its first TPA injection for the treatment of a stroke patient, providing advanced care at the local level.

According to hospital sources, the injection was administered to Banaras Khan, a resident of Havelian, and was provided free of cost under the Sehat Sahulat Program.

Officials termed the development a significant step forward for healthcare services in the Hazara region, as timely and modern treatment for stroke patients is now available locally, which is expected to help save lives.

The achievement was made possible through the dedicated efforts of Chairman board of Governors Professor Abid Jameel, Hospital Director Dr. Sajjad Ahmad Afridi, Medical Director Dr. Imran Khan, and frontline medical staff.
