According to Director KIAS Dr. Amjad Ansari, the selected students—Faizan, Shiraz, Iman Basharat, Mubeen, and Rehan—will compete in various events including the 200-meter race, long jump, relay race, powerlifting, and cycling competitions scheduled from May 14 to 17. He shared these details while speaking to media at the Kashmir Press Club before the team departed for Islamabad.
Dr. Ansari said the children, despite being deprived of hearing and speech abilities, have shown remarkable talent and determination.

He added that the participation of these students is a matter of pride not only for Mirpur but for the entire region of Azad Jammu and Kashmir. Emphasizing the need for better facilities, he noted that special children have immense potential, but lack of institutional support in the region remains a challenge. He expressed hope that their continued efforts would help these athletes achieve further success at national and international levels.
