FAISALABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 1st May, 2026) Divisional Commissioner Madam Musarrat Jabeen on Friday announced that a long-awaited solution to chronic parking issues around the historic Clock Tower and its eight bazaars was nearing realization as the construction of five modern parking plazas with Rs1 billion would soon commence under the supervision of the divisional administration.
Chairing a meeting here, she said that the project aimed at de-congesting one of the busiest commercial hubs of the city and providing organized parking facilities to traders, shoppers and commuters. She directed the concerned departments to ensure prompt execution of the project in line with approved designs and timelines. She emphasized that the plazas would not only resolve parking shortages but also improve overall urban planning and facilitate smoother business activities.
She also reviewed progress on the completion of parking plaza at Chiniot Bazaar and directed that all pending issues should be resolved on priority to ensure its early operationalization. She said that the initiative reflected the administration’s commitment to modern urban planning and provision of public facilities in line with the needs of a growing metropolitan population. “The Clock Tower area is the commercial heart of Faisalabad and addressing its infrastructure challenges is imperative for economic efficiency and urban facilities”, she added.
She reiterated that all stakeholders including traders and citizens would be kept informed during the execution phase to ensure transparency and public convenience. The project would mark a major step towards organized traffic management in the city, she added.
During briefing, the NESPAK resident engineer presented detailed designs and highlighted modern facilities to be incorporated in the multi-storey parking plazas including efficient traffic flow mechanisms and utilization of rooftop spaces for commercial purposes.
The meeting was informed that the plazas would be constructed at key point surrounding the central business cluster including Zail Ghar, Imam Bargah Road, Aminpur Bazaar and Karkhana Bazaar while additional arrangements were also being reviewed for Chiniot Bazaar.
The officials said that new multi-level structures would collectively accommodate more than 1,500 motorcycles and cars, significantly reducing roadside parking and traffic congestion in the city.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Captain (Retired) Nadeem Nasir, Director Development Asif Chaudhry, Chief Officer Municipal Corporation Murtaza Malik, Resident Engineer of NESPAK and other senior officials were also present in the meeting.
