Fiza Ali Apologises After Viral ‘Family Moment’ on Live Morning Show Draws Criticism

Pakistani actress and television host Fiza Ali has issued a public apology following backlash over a clip from her morning show that went viral on social media, prompting regulatory attention and widespread debate online.

It happened on a live airing of the Mornings with Fiza show on the City News Network, when Fiza Ali, the show’s guest, was lifted by her husband, Ejaz Khan, on air. The moment happened when their daughter, Faraal who was also on the show, jokingly requested her father to pick her mother. Ejaz Khan obeyed and the child clapped and the part at first seemed light-hearted to the people at the studio.

Nevertheless, after the clip went viral, it caused intense backlash among the viewers who doubted the suitability of the timing of such a live television show. The situation became even more heated when the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) served a show-cause notice to the Chief Executive Officer of the City News Network in connection with the broadcast.

In response to the controversy, Fiza Ali posted both a written clarification on Instagram and a video statement on Facebook, saying the moment was misinterpreted and carried no negative intent. She described it as a spontaneous family interaction that should not have been taken out of context.

“This was a family moment and it should not have been taken in a negative way,” she said, adding that if anyone felt offended or misunderstood the situation, she apologised. She also reiterated respect for her audience and said she would exercise greater care and responsibility in future broadcasts.

The incident has reignited discussion on content boundaries in live morning shows in Pakistan, particularly regarding on-air conduct involving hosts and their families.
