FJWU marks Youm-e-Marka-e-Haq with week-long activities

RAWALPINDI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 8th May, 2026) Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU) organized week-long activities to commemorate Youm-e-Marka-e-Haq and Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos under the patronage of Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Bushra Mirza and in line with directions of the Higher education Commission’s Directorate of Student Affairs.

The initiative aimed to promote patriotism, national unity, resilience and civic responsibility among students while paying tribute to the sacrifices of the Pakistan Armed Forces in safeguarding national sovereignty.

The activities began with a speech competition organized by the Literary and Debating Society on the role of armed forces in defending national sovereignty during Marka-e-Haq, where students presented their views in urdu and English.

An online poster competition was also arranged by the Square Off Gaming Club, encouraging students to depict themes of resilience, sacrifice, unity and national identity through creative artwork.

A webinar titled “Marka-e-Haq and Bunyan-um-Marsoos: Lessons of Courage, Unity, and Psychological Resilience” was jointly organized by multiple societies and the Department of Behavioural Sciences. Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Bushra Mirza attended as the chief guest, while experts including Brig (Retd) Prof Dr Tanvir Akhtar, Sohail Habib Tajik and Dr Muhammad Umar Riaz Abbasi spoke on national unity, youth engagement, media role and psychological resilience.

In another segment, the Art, Culture and Dramatics Society, in collaboration with the Media Club, organized an AI-assisted short video competition focusing on themes of patriotism, culture, social harmony and national identity.

The week-long programme will conclude with a flag-hoisting ceremony, collective prayer and a solidarity walk on campus, reaffirming the university’s commitment to nurturing responsible and informed citizens.
