DERA ISMAIL KHAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 6th Apr, 2026) The heavy torrential rains have caused a breach in the Shah Kot Minor canal, unleashing floodwaters that severely damaged standing crops across several villages in the Paharpur.
According to details, the surge of water inundated agricultural lands in Thatta Balochanwala, Ghhebi, Mubarak Shah, and Sardar-e-Wala, destroying large portions of wheat crops ready for harvest. The local residents immediately launched relief efforts on a self-help basis during the night to contain the damage and protect their properties.
Upon receiving information about the incident, Assistant Commissioner Paharpur, Dr. Hamid, rushed to the site and supervised the response. Heavy machinery was deployed promptly, and formal relief operations were initiated to control the situation and prevent further losses.
According to the Meteorological Department, more rainfall is expected in the coming days. Local residents, particularly farmers, have been advised to take precautionary measures and make necessary arrangements to safeguard their crops and property against further damage.
