Foreign Office said that the 9 May attack resulted in the martyrdom of 15 policemen.

ISLAMABAD: Foreign Office(FO) has stated that the recent attack on a police post in Bannu was planned by terrorists operating from Afghanistan.

In an official statement, the Foreign Office said that the 9 May attack resulted in the martyrdom of 15 police personnel and injuries to four others.

It added that investigations, evidence, and technical intelligence have confirmed the involvement of Afghanistan-based militants in planning the assault.

The Foreign Office said that Afghanistan’s chargé d’affaires was summoned and handed a strong protest note, expressing serious concerns over the use of Afghan soil for terrorism against Pakistan.

It further stated that reports by the United Nations and other international bodies have also highlighted the presence and activities of terrorist groups inside Afghanistan.

Pakistan reiterated that it reserves the right to take decisive action against those responsible for the attack and will not compromise on national security and the protection of its citizens.

The statement added that despite multiple diplomatic engagements and talks mediated by friendly countries with the Afghan Taliban, effective action against terrorist networks has not been taken, which continues to pose security challenges for the region.
