DERA GHAZI KHAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Apr, 2026) Assistant Advisor and Regional head of Federal Ombudsman Dera Ghazi Khan office, Muhammad Sohaib, listened to around 50 complaints of Multan Electric Power Company (Mepco) consumers and provided relief worth Rs 700,000 to them.
In compliance with the standing orders of Federal Ombudsman Naveed Kamran Baloch, the Assistant Advisor issued necessary instructions to officials of the concerned federal departments to ensure effective resolution of public grievances and provide prompt relief to complainants, the spokesman said Thursday.
During the hearing, penalties imposed on several Mepco consumers in the form of disputed electricity bills were waived on the spot, providing relief of approximately Rs700,000 to the affected consumers.
Complainants who could not appear in person were heard via telephone calls.
Talking to mediapersons, Sohaib encouraged people to avail the services of FO for access to justice at no cost in case of complaints against federal departments.
He added that complaints filed with the Federal Ombudsman are decided within 60 days without any fee or the requirement of legal representation.
The complainants from DG Khan and Kit Chutta thanked Muhammad Sohaib and Federal Ombudsman Naveed Kamran Baloch for resolving their issues and appreciated the role of the Ombudsman institution, describing it as “a real court for the poor.”
