Food authority inspects schools, food manufacturing units in DIKhan

Dera Ismail Khan, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Jun, 2026) The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority conducted inspections of various public and private schools as well as food manufacturing units in Dera Ismail Khan to ensure compliance with food safety regulations and hygiene standards.

During visits to schools, food safety teams inspected canteens, reviewed cleanliness conditions, assessed the quality of food being served, and examined adherence to food safety protocols. Improvement notices were issued to several school administrations over minor deficiencies and violations of food safety regulations, with instructions to take immediate corrective measures.

In a separate operation, the authority inspected several pops manufacturing units operating in different parts of the city.

The teams observed inadequate sanitation arrangements, violations of food safety standard operating procedures (SOPs), and other irregularities. As a result, fines were imposed on multiple units for non-compliance with food safety laws.

The authority also directed food business operators holding expired licences to renew them without delay, while several licence renewals were processed during the campaign.

Officials of the Food Authority reiterated their commitment to ensuring the provision of safe and quality food to the public and urged all food business operators to strictly comply with food safety regulations and hygiene standards.
