SIALKOT, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 2nd Apr, 2026) Food safety teams taking action against substandard food, discarded rancid
cooking oil, expired bread and other unfit for consumption food items in various
parts of the district during the last 24 hours.
On the direction of the Director General Food Authority conducted raids in
Chawinda and Pasrur and took action against unhygienic food outlets. The
food safety teams sealed a food point due to poor hygiene and serious
violations, and imposed fines on four other outlets. The teams also served
notices to several operators for improving their standards.
During the drive, the officials discarded large quantities of rancid cooking oil,
expired bread and other unsafe food items. The teams also found dirty food
processing areas, including unclean freezers and food being prepared on broken
floors, while some workers lacked medical and training certificates.
A spokesperson for the department said the crackdown was a part of ongoing
efforts against adulteration under a zero-tolerance policy being implemented
on the direction of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
