LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 1st Apr, 2026) An enforcement team of Punjab Food Authority faced violent resistance during an operation in 67-D area of Pakpattan. Team discarded 1,000 litres of fake milk at a milk collection centre, lodged an FIR, arrested two accused while raids are underway to apprehend two others.
PFA spokesperson said that during the raid, the main accused Fakhar called four to five accomplices who attacked team. The suspects surrounded the officials, took them hostage and subjected them to violence. A female food safety officer was harassed, while her official documents and mobile phone were snatched and damaged.
He said that such acts of violence against officials performing their duties are unacceptable. DG PFA Muhammad Asim Javaid commended the bravery and dedication of the team for continuing their duties under difficult circumstances.
He said that during the past year, over 609,876 dairy shops, collection centres and suppliers were inspected, while 309 million litres of milk were checked across Punjab. During these operations, 2.69 million litres of substandard and fake milk were discarded.
The DG PFA said that 1,163 FIRs were lodged against milk adulteration and 642 units were sealed, while 10 major networks of fake milk mafia were busted and over 200 supply tankers were intercepted. He said that food safety officers are performing their duties round the clock, regardless of weather conditions, holidays or festivals, to ensure provision of safe food.
