Food Safety team inspects central jail, fines businesses over violations in DIKhan

Dera Ismail Khan, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 7th Jun, 2026) The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority (KPFS&HFA) carried out inspection activities in various areas of Dera Ismail Khan, including a visit to the Central Jail, as part of its ongoing efforts to ensure food safety standards and public health protection.

During the visit to the Central Jail, food safety officials inspected the kitchen and langar facilities to assess hygiene conditions, food handling practices, and compliance with food safety regulations. Improvement notices were issued to the relevant authorities to address identified shortcomings and further enhance food preparation and storage standards.

Separately, food safety teams conducted inspections of various food businesses across the district.

During the operations, several establishments were found violating food safety laws and regulations, resulting in the imposition of fines.

The inspection teams also recovered a significant quantity of expired food items and beverages from different outlets. The confiscated products were discarded on the spot to prevent their sale and consumption by the public.

Officials of the Food Safety Authority reiterated their commitment to ensuring the availability of safe and hygienic food products in the district and warned food business operators against violating food safety standards.

They urged traders and food handlers to strictly comply with food safety regulations, emphasizing that regular inspections and enforcement actions would continue across the district to safeguard public health.
