Food sector stakeholders urged to invest in certification

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Apr, 2026) Convener of FPCCI Regional Committee on Food, Shahid Imran has urged the food sector's stakeholders to adopt modern practices, invest in certification, and align with international standards of production processes to attract global markets.

In a meeting with food exporters' delegation led by Chaudhary Muhammad Afzal from Sheikhupura, here Sunday, he added that it would not only enhance product value but also strengthen Pakistan’s position in the international food supply chain. He also called upon relevant authorities to facilitate through training and awareness programmes to ensure widespread compliance and sustainable growth in the food sector.

Shahid Imran said, "Standards are not merely technical rules but the very foundation for innovation and global competitiveness.

In today’s rapidly evolving global marketplace, adherence to internationally recognized standards enables Pakistani food products to gain trust, acceptance, and access to lucrative export markets."

He cited that quality benchmarks ensure consistency, safety, and reliability, which are essential to meet the international standards. Without compliance to these standards, he viewed, local industries risk isolation and loss of opportunities in global trade. Innovation thrives where clear standards exist, as they provide a structured framework for research, development and improvement.
