QUETTA, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Jun, 2026) Like the rest of the country, Youm-e-Ashura is being observed across Balochistan, including Quetta, with deep religious reverence and respect. The central mourning procession in Quetta will be taken out today from Alamdar Road, following traditional routes before concluding at Mominabad Imambargah in the evening.
Authorities have implemented extraordinary security measures to ensure peace and safety. The entry points to the procession routes have been sealed using canopies, barbed wire, and heavy trucks. Emergency has been declared in hospitals, while mobile and internet services remain suspended in Quetta and other areas of the province.
On 10th Muharram procession, featuring Zuljinah, Tazias, and Alams, will pass through Alamdar Road, Qaidabad Street, Toghi Road, Mission Road, Bacha Khan Chowk, Liaquat Bazaar, Prince Road, Mekangi Road, and Ibrahim Street before returning to Alamdar Road.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>At Bacha Khan Chowk, participants will offer Zuhrain prayers, and after the procession concludes, Sham-e-Ghariban gatherings will be held at Imambargahs.
Security arrangements include the deployment of police, Frontier Corps (FC), Anti-Terrorism Force (ATF), Rapid Response Group (RRG), and Balochistan Constabulary personnel. The routes have been thoroughly screened, with shops, markets, and buildings sealed in the presence of traders’ representatives. Entry into the procession will only be allowed after strict checking.
The mourning procession will be monitored through CCTV cameras and aerial surveillance by helicopters, while the Pakistan Army remains on high alert to counter any potential threats. Control rooms have been established at the offices of the IG, DIG, and Deputy Commissioner to oversee the arrangements.
