Former speaker KP Assembly allocates Rs. 10m for Christian community to get cemetery land in Abbottabad

ABBOTTABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 4th May, 2026) In a significant move to address a longstanding issue faced by the Christian community, former speaker KP assembly and Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA) Mushtaq Ahmed Khan Ghani has allocated a fund of Rs. 10 million here Monday for the purchase of new cemetery land.

Representatives of the Christian community including Peter Nairuz Gul, General Secretary of the Minority Wing, Zakir Paul Hussain, Nazir Masih, President of the Christian Cemetery, Shakir Amir, Rabin Tanveer, Maqsood Nizam, Vishal James and Munawar Habib have hailed the initiative as highly commendable, stating that it marked substantial progress in resolving a persistent problem.

In addition to the land allocation, MPA Ghani also resolved disputes related to the pathway of another cemetery and assured the Christian community of full cooperation.

Speaking at the event, MPA Ghani said, “Resolving the issues of minority communities is among the government’s top priorities, and all possible steps will continue to be taken to address the difficulties faced by the Christian community.”

He further emphasized that practical measures to promote mutual respect, harmony and equality were essential, and providing equal facilities to all citizens is the responsibility of the government.

The Christian community thanked the MPA for his efforts and expressed hope that practical steps to resolve issues of minority communities would continue in the same manner in the future.
