Four children killed, 20 wounded in classroom collapse incident

DG KHAN, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 7th May, 2026) At least four children of class one, including three girls and one boy, of a private school were killed and another 20 sustained injuries when roof of their classroom caved in, here on Thursday.

Rescue 1122 District Emergency Officer (DEO) Engineer Ahmad Kamal told APP the incident took place around 11:52 am when the roof of The Little Scholars School collapsed located on a road between V & W Bloc of DG Khan.

Resultantly, he informed that four children including Ghania Zohra (8), Masoom Fatima (5), Dua Aimen (6) and M. Abdullah (6) died on the spot while 20 others including two teachers were wounded.

The injured were identified as Saima (26) (Teacher) Ume Hani (7), Sher Ali (8), Noor Hareem (7), Shajiha (5), Adnan (6),

Saba Murtaza (6), M. Arish (7), Hamema Jabbar (8), M. Azlan, Kabir Qadir, M. Saboor, M. Afnan, Maleeha Khan (7), Sidra Rafiq (Teacher-30), Jariatul Zehra (6), Narmeen FatiMA(6), Badar Muhiuddin (7), Mumtaz (27), Sanaullah (28 ) (Labor).

The injured were shifted to a teaching hospital, he said and added that after being alerted, rescuers rushed to the spot.

He stated that work on upper portion of building was in progress which overburdened the roof that resulted in classroom collapse.

Rescue 1122 dispatched seven ambulances, two fire vehicles, two rescue vehicles, two motorbike rescue units and additional personnel to the scene, the DEO maintained.

Upon arrival, rescue teams launched a search-and-rescue operation while police and district administration officials were informed immediately. Police personnel assisted in maintaining security, controlling the crowd and facilitating relief activities.

Soon after receiving information about the incident, Commissioner Dera Ghazi Khan Ashfaq Ahmad Chaudhry, Regional Police Officer Azhar Akram and District Police Officer Sadiq Baloch reached the site to review the situation and monitor the ongoing rescue operation.

Meanwhile, emergency has been declared at all government hospitals in Dera Ghazi Khan to ensure immediate and best possible medical treatment for the injured children.
