Four-day urs of Hazrat Sakhi Sarwar begins in DG Khan

DG KHAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Mar, 2026) The four-day annual urs of the great spiritual leader of the Subcontinent, Hazrat Syed Ahmed Sultan, popularly known as Sakhi Sarwar (RA), commenced with traditional zeal and devotion here on Thursday.

Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Usman Khalid formally inaugurated the Urs by laying a ceremonial chadar at the shrine, accompanied by DPO Sadiq Hussain Baloch, officials of the Auqaf Department, custodians (mujawars), and district administration officers.

Special prayers were offered on the occasion for the country’s security, progress and prosperity, success of the armed forces, and peace in the middle East.

Among others present were Commandant Border Military Police Ameer Taimur Khan, ADCG Muhammad Asad Chandia, DO Special Branch Syed Ahmed Bukhari, Assistant Commissioners Taimur Usman and Hafiz Umar Saeed, Zonal Administrator Auqaf Qazi Azhar, Manager Tariq Javed, and other officials.

The deputy commissioner reviewed arrangements for the Urs, including the control room, CCTV surveillance, entry and exit routes, and security checkpoints.

He also distributed langar among devotees and inquired about the facilities being provided.

He directed officials to ensure the best possible facilities for pilgrims in line with the instructions of the Punjab chief minister, emphasizing that no shortcomings should be tolerated.

Speaking on the occasion, the deputy commissioner said the teachings of Hazrat Sakhi Sarwar (RA) promote peace, love, brotherhood, and harmony, adding that the district administration has made exemplary arrangements for the Urs.

DPO Sadiq Hussain Baloch stated that foolproof security arrangements have been put in place by the police and Border Military Police. The shrine and its surroundings are being monitored through barbed wire fencing, CCTV cameras, and the Safe City system, while devotees are being allowed entry only after thorough checking.

He added that all available resources are being utilized to ensure the safety and security of the pilgrims.
