Free dead body transport service launched in Rawalpindi

RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 14th Apr, 2026) The Punjab government has launched a free dead body transport service in Rawalpindi on the directions of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz to facilitate citizens in times of distress.

The service aims to ensure free transportation of deceased persons from government hospitals to their homes, providing relief to bereaved families.

According to the details, Rescue 1122 has been assigned responsibility for the service and has been provided with modern, dedicated vehicles to ensure timely and efficient operations.

District Emergency Officer Engineer Sibghatullah on Tuesday handed over keys of the vehicles to drivers during a ceremony and issued instructions to ensure dignity, care and professionalism during transportation of bodies.

He said the service would prove to be a major relief for grieving families and Rescue 1122 would take all possible steps to deliver it effectively.

Citizens have been advised to contact the Rescue 1122 helpline in case they require the service for transportation of deceased persons.
