SUKKUR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Apr, 2026) Mayor Sukkur, Barrister Arslan islam Shaikh, who is also Spokesperson for the Sindh Government and Co Chairman of the Sindh Mass Transit Authority, said on Friday that the distribution of free Pink Scotties to women was a significant step towards ensuring their empowerment as well as dignified and safe mobility.

Addressing a ceremony held in Sukkur for the distribution of free Pink Scoties among women, Barrister Arslan Islam Shaikh said the Sindh government believed in taking practical steps to empower women, and the scheme reflected the vision of strengthening them economically and socially by providing modern travel facilities.

He said that our effort reflects the vision that women should not only be given opportunities but also the resources to live an independent and dignified life. The Pink Scotties scheme will provide women with safe, respectable and convenient mobility, bringing real ease to their daily lives, he said.

Arslan said the vision was in fact a continuation of the enlightened thinking of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, who had waged a historic struggle to make women a strong pillar of society and to empower them.

Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto always raised her voice for women’s rights, education, and independence, and today’s measures are the practical manifestation of that mission, he added.

Barrister Arslan Islam Shaikh lauded the leadership of Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, saying he was taking concrete steps for women’s development, education, and empowerment while carrying forward his mother’s vision.

Under the leadership of Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the Pakistan Peoples Party is vigorously advancing not only the agenda of democracy but also social justice and women’s development, he said.

He paid tribute to senior PPP leader Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah for his services, particularly for promoting women’s education in Sukkur. The establishment of the Women University by Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah is clear evidence that the PPP leadership is working practically on the mission of women’s education and independence. This institution will play a key role in empowering future generations of women, he said.

Barrister Arslan Islam Shaikh also thanked Provincial Transport Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, saying his leadership and efforts in improving the mass transit system and promoting modern transport projects in Sindh were commendable.

Due to Sharjeel Inam Memon’s consistent hard work and vision, not only has the mass transit program gained new direction, but revolutionary projects like Pink Scooties are also taking practical shape. His role in women’s facilitation and empowerment is highly significant and valuable,” he said.

He reiterated that the Sindh government would continue to introduce welfare and development projects that bring positive and lasting change to the lives of all segments of society, including women.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, Barrister Arslan Islam Shaikh appreciated the efforts of all institutions and officers who contributed to making the project successful, saying such collective efforts lay the foundation for an enlightened, empowered and developed society.
