Free textbook distribution launched in Abbottabad government schools

ABBOTTABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Feb, 2026) The District Education Officer (DEO) Iftikhar Ul Ghani Monday inaugurated the free textbook distribution program in government schools across Abbottabad at a ceremony held in Government High School No. 3, Abbottabad.

The initiative is being carried out under the supervision of the Elementary & Secondary Education Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The event was attended by Deputy District Education Officer Nasir Ahmed, District Focal Person Adeel Anjum, other education officials, teachers, and a large number of students.

Speaking at the event, DEO Iftikhar Ul Ghani said that the government has initiated the timely provision of free textbooks to all district schools to ensure students have the necessary resources at the start of the academic year.

He emphasized that quality education remains a top priority, and the distribution of textbooks is a key part of this effort.

He added that all students will receive textbooks without discrimination and that no delay or negligence will be tolerated. Teachers were urged to start instruction according to the new books and actively contribute to enhancing students academic performance.

District Focal Person Adeel Anjum said the distribution process is being conducted transparently, with daily monitoring to ensure no school faces a shortage.

At the ceremony, students were symbolically handed textbooks, while delivery and distribution to all government schools in Abbottabad is ongoing. Officials said the program is expected to improve student learning outcomes and reduce the financial burden on parents.
