KARACHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 9th Apr, 2026) Sindh Senior Minister and Provincial Minister for Information, Transport and Mass Transit, Sharjeel Inam Memon, has said that the Sindh government has reached an important milestone in providing fuel subsidies to support farmers amid current economic conditions. Fuel subsidies have been provided to 331,000 farmers across the province through Hari Cards.
In a statement on Thursday, Sharjeel Inam Memon said that a total of Rs 3 billion was disbursed as fuel subsidy in a transparent manner. This subsidy covered 1.94 million acres of agricultural land.
He said that the purpose of the fuel subsidy is to reduce farmers’ production costs and help increase their income.
All funds were transferred directly to farmers based on verified data, ensuring complete transparency.
Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon said that the positive results of the Sindh government’s farmer-friendly policies are now becoming evident. Last year, government support in the form of fertilizer through the Hari Card led to an increase in wheat production.
He said that wheat production rose from 3.5 million metric tons to 4.8 million metric tons as a result of government assistance. The Sindh government will continue to take such steps to boost agricultural production, promote economic development, and ensure the prosperity of farmers.
