FUUAST signs MoU with Smart forum to boost academic collaboration in emerging technologies

The Federal Urdu University of Arts, Sciences & Technology (FUUAST), Islamabad, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Smart Forum to promote academic and industry collaboration in emerging technologies, particularly 5G and Artificial Intelligence (AI)

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 6th May, 2026) The Federal Urdu University of Arts, Sciences & Technology (FUUAST), Islamabad, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Smart Forum to promote academic and industry collaboration in emerging technologies, particularly 5G and Artificial Intelligence (AI).

The MoU signing ceremony was held at FUUAST Islamabad in the presence of senior university officials, faculty members, and representatives of Smart Forum. The agreement aims to strengthen capacity building, professional training, and industry-oriented learning opportunities for students and faculty members.

Under the MoU, Smart Forum, in collaboration with Qualcomm Wireless Academy (QWA), will facilitate training programs, certification opportunities, and access to advanced learning resources in the areas of 5G and Artificial Intelligence. The collaboration will particularly benefit students from Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, and Computer Science disciplines.

The agreement also provides opportunities for showcasing selected Final Year Projects (FYPs) to enhance student innovation, visibility, and employability, while ensuring compliance with academic and ethical standards and protection of intellectual property rights.

Speaking on the occasion, the Vice Chancellor of FUUAST, Zabta Khan Shinwari appreciated the initiative and emphasized the importance of academia–industry collaboration in preparing students for future technological challenges and opportunities. Representatives of Smart Forum also highlighted their commitment to supporting higher education institutions through advanced technological training and capacity-building initiatives.

The MoU was signed by Engr. Dr Rahat Ullah, Incharge Dean, Faculty of Engineering, FUUAST Islamabad, and Mr. Khalid Khan, Chief Executive Officer, Smart Forum.

The collaboration is expected to open new avenues for academic growth, professional development, and technological innovation for students and faculty members of FUUAST.
