Gang leader injured in encounter after motorcycle snatching

MUZAFFARGARH, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 6th Apr, 2026) Police on Monday claimed to have arrested the ringleader of a dacoit gang in an injured condition after an alleged encounter that took place when the suspects were fleeing after snatching a motorcycle.

According to a police spokesperson,the suspects snatched a motorcycle from a citizen at gunpoint near Turkey Bypass and attempted to escape.

Police teams,acting swiftly set up pickets to intercept the fleeing suspects.

The suspects allegedly tried to break through a checkpoint near Thermal Bypass, prompting a chase.

During the pursuit,the accused opened fire on the police,who retaliated.

After the firing ceased,a search operation was launched,during which Tauqeer Alias Tauqeeri a proclaimed offender and the alleged ringleader of the gang was found injured.

However,his accomplice,identified as Imran Shah managed to escape under the cover of darkness.

Police said the snatched motorcycle and an illegal pistol were recovered from the injured suspect.

Officials added that Tauqeer was involved in 28 criminal cases registered in Multan,Kot Addu and Muzaffargarh.

District Police Officer(DPO),Syed Ghazanfar Ali Shah commended the police team for their prompt action and successful operation.
