GDA launches old town rehabilitation project, modernizing infrastructure

GWADAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd Jul, 2026) The Gwadar Development Authority (GDA), under the directives of Director General Moin-ur-Rehman Khan, has formally begun implementation of new schemes under the Old Town Rehabilitation Project. The initiative aims to modernize the city’s historic core while providing improved civic facilities to residents.

During the recent inauguration of Kitab Chowk, locals requested the construction and expansion of the road from RCDC Club to Municipal Committee Gwadar. Considering the public need, the DG GDA immediately approved the project, and construction work has now commenced.

The rehabilitation plan covers the construction and expansion of roads, tile paving and carpeting, upgrading drainage systems, and the development and renovation of schools, playgrounds, public spaces, and markets.

Work is progressing rapidly across streets, lanes, bazaars, and residential areas.

DG Moin-ur-Rehman Khan added that, in line with the vision of the Balochistan government, Gwadar is being developed into a modern, beautiful, and sustainable coastal city. He emphasized that the Old Town Rehabilitation Project will preserve Gwadar’s historic identity while improving municipal services, business activity, and the overall quality of life for citizens.
