Gilani meets PPP delegation, discusses Bilawal’s upcoming visit

MULTAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Apr, 2026) Chairman Senate and Central Senior Vice Chairman of Pakistan Peoples Party Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani held a meeting at Gilani House with a delegation led by Senior Vice President PPP South Punjab, Khawaja Rizwan Alam.

The delegation was accompanied by Chairman Public Accounts Committee Punjab, Syed Ali Haider Gilani, along with key party office-bearers including City President Malik Naseem Hussain Labar, District General Secretary Rao Sajid Ali, City General Secretary A.D. Khan Baloch, President PYO South Punjab Syed Arif Shah, President PLF South Punjab Sheikh Ghayas-ul-Haq Advocate, City Information Secretary Khawaja Imran, District Information Secretary Chaudhry Yaseen, and Senior Vice Presidents Mian Manzoor Qadri and Sajid Khan Baloch.

During the meeting, detailed discussions were held regarding the expected visit of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to South Punjab, along with consultations on party organizational matters and the current political and economic situation in the country.

Speaking on the occasion, Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani stated that Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is expected to visit Multan soon as part of his South Punjab tour, where he will meet local leadership and party office-bearers and also visit various districts of the region.

He further appreciated the unwavering dedication, ideological commitment, and loyalty of PPP workers and office-bearers towards democratic values, calling it a matter of pride for the party.

Highlighting the prevailing challenges, he noted that the public is currently facing inflation and unemployment, and emphasized that PPP leaders and workers standing alongside the people reflects the party’s identity as a truly public-oriented democratic force.

Commenting on international developments, Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani termed the possible ceasefire and direct negotiations between the United States and Iran as a significant diplomatic and historic achievement for Pakistan. He stated that Pakistan’s political and military leadership has played a balanced, effective, and visionary role in reducing long-standing mistrust, paving the way for dialogue and helping avert a major global conflict.

He added that after nearly half a century, bringing the United States and Iran to the negotiating table demonstrates Pakistan’s commitment to peace. This development has not only reduced regional tensions but also strengthened global peace and stability, potentially saving countless human lives.

Gilani also remarked that Pakistan’s growing recognition at the international level has exposed and defeated elements engaged in negative propaganda against the country.

Praising the role of the media, he said that it has played a vital part in effectively presenting the national narrative and projecting a positive image of Pakistan globally, which is highly commendable.
