SUKKUR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd May, 2026) Pir Abdul Qadir Shah Jeelani Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS) Gambat has successfully performed liver transplant, marking again milestone for public healthcare in Sindh.
The procedure was carried out on Friday, when a student of Matriculation, 21 years old, resident of Chowki Jamali Balochistan's province, Dua Jamali donated part of her liver to save her father Mansoor Khan’s life. Hospital's spokesperson, Jamil Hyder Soomro, said both donor and recipient were recovering well under the care of the transplant and intensive care teams.
The institute, which performed liver transplant last month, said the surgeries were being done free of charge.

Director GIMS Gambat, Dr. Raheem Bux Bhatti credited the transplant team for the achievement and reaffirmed the institute’s commitment to providing world class treatment without financial barriers.
The hospital thanked the media organizations for highlighting the milestone, saying coverage helped raise awareness about advanced healthcare services available in the public sector.
