SUKKUR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 28th Mar, 2026) The 4th Pediatric Conference, organized by the Department of Pediatrics at Pir Abdul Qadir Shah Jeelani Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS), successfully concluded on Saturday. The two-day conference was inaugurated by GIMS Director, Dr. Raheem Bux Bhutti.
As Chief Guest of the occasion, Dr. Bhutti welcomed renowned pediatricians from across the country, highlighting GIMS' commitment to providing quality healthcare to patients from Sindh, Balochistan, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and abroad. He noted that GIMS has successfully performed various surgeries with a success rate of over 90% with the support of the Sindh government.
The conference featured prominent speakers, including Prof. Dr. Saifullah Jamro, Prof. Dr. Ghulam Rasool Bouk, Prof. Bahawal Din Jamro, Prof. Dr. Shanti Lal, Prof. Dr. Shankar Lal, Dr. Dilijan, Dr. Mumtaz Ali Bharo, Prof. Dr. Jai Krishan, Prof.
Dr. Sultan Mustafa, and Prof. Dr. Ali Akbar Siyal.
Topics discussed included asthma management, pediatric allergy types and management, distinguishing viral bronchiolitis from bacterial pneumonia, and acute respiratory tract infections in Pakistani children.
The second session featured Dr. Tufail Soomro, Dr. Ubaidullah Bahalkani, Dr. Kamran Shahani, Prof. Dr. Amanullah Lail, Prof. Salman Ali, and Prof. Iqbal A. Memon, who addressed micronutrient deficiencies, breastfeeding benefits, malnutrition strategies, and vaccine confidence.
Dr. Pardeep Kumar and Dr. Iftikhar Haider Shah moderated the sessions. Dr. Bakhtiar Ahmed Bhanbhro thanked participants, highlighting the conference's significance in advancing pediatric medicine and healthcare practices.
Later, Dr. Raheem Bux Bhutti distributed shields and certificates to participants and paramedical staff, acknowledging their contributions.
