The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has disposed of a petition pertaining to the appointment of the Chairman of the National Industrial Relations Commission (NIRC) after being informed that the commission has become active and the federal government has appointed Sardar Tahir Sabir as Acting Chairman
ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st May, 2026) The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has disposed of a petition pertaining to the appointment of the Chairman of the National Industrial Relations Commission (NIRC) after being informed that the commission has become active and the Federal government has appointed Sardar Tahir Sabir as Acting Chairman.
Justice Sardar Ijaz Ishaq Khan heard the case. Additional Attorney General Rashid Hafeez appeared before the court and informed the bench that Sardar Tahir Sabir, who is fourth in seniority, has been appointed as Acting Chairman of NIRC.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>He noted that Sardar Tahir Sabir has also previously served as Registrar of the Islamabad High Court.
The Additional Attorney General further submitted that a summary for the appointment of a permanent chairman has been forwarded, and until a decision is made, the acting chairman will perform the duties.
Petitioner's counsel Shoaib Shaheen argued that the senior-most member of NIRC should have been appointed to the position.
The court disposed of the petition after the appointment of the Acting Chairman of NIRC was confirmed.
