Government cuts petrol, diesel prices by Rs5 per litre

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th May, 2026) The Federal government on Friday announced a reduction of Rs5 per litre in the prices of petrol and high-speed diesel (HSD) for the next week, effective from May 16, 2026.

According to a press release issued by the Ministry of Energy (Petroleum Division), the price of Motor Spirit (MS/petrol) was reduced from Rs414.

78 per litre to Rs409.78 per litre, reflecting a decrease of Rs5 per litre.

Similarly, the price of High-Speed Diesel (HSD) was cut from Rs414.58 per litre to Rs409.58 per litre after a reduction of Rs5 per litre.

The revised ex-depot prices came into effect from May 16, 2026.
