HYDERABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Feb, 2026) The Sindh government has presented SAFCO with an honorary award in recognition of its successful implementation of the housing project for flood-affected families. SAFCO founder Dr Suleman G. Abro highlighted that through the joint cooperation of the government and non-governmental organizations, significant positive changes can be achieved for the people of Sindh.

Following the devastating torrential rains of 2022, SAFCO has been working hand in hand with the Sindh government to construct sturdy houses capable of withstanding natural disasters, replacing those that were destroyed. Under this initiative, approximately 190,000 houses are currently under construction, while 105,000 houses have already been completed and handed over to affected families.

In recognition of SAFCO’s outstanding performance, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah presented an honorary shield at the conclusion of the Asia-Pacific Shelter and Settlements Forum (APSSF) 2026 held at a local hotel in Karachi.

The shield was received by Bashir Ahmed Abro, CEO of the SAFCO Support Foundation.

Dr Suleman G. Abro described the honorary award as an encouragement for the spirit of social service, noting that it reflects the trust of both the government and the social organizations like SAFCO.

According to a statement issued by the SAFCO Head Office in Hyderabad, Dr Suleman G. Abro said that the flood-affected houses in Shaheed Benazirabad and Nowshera Feroze districts are being constructed with Climate resilience techniques, ensuring the safety of affected families.

Dr Abro further stated that this housing mega-project serves as a prime example of what can be achieved through the collaboration of government and non-governmental organizations. He added that SAFCO’s success is not only due to the dedication of its team but also relies on the support of all individuals and partners involved in the project.
