Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi on Tuesday chaired a high-level meeting at Governor House to review arrangements for the Commonwealth Women Parliamentarians (CWP) regional event scheduled to be held in October 2026 under the auspices of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly

PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 28th Apr, 2026) Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi on Tuesday chaired a high-level meeting at Governor House to review arrangements for the Commonwealth Women Parliamentarians (CWP) regional event scheduled to be held in October 2026 under the auspices of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly.

The meeting was attended by Members of the Provincial Assembly Ahmad Karim Kundi, Sardar Shahjehan Yousaf and Sajjad Khan, Secretary KP Assembly Syed Waqar Shah, and other relevant officials.

Briefing the participants, Secretary Assembly Syed Waqar Shah said the event is being organized in collaboration with the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) under the Gender Strengthening Fund.

He said women parliamentarians and parliamentary representatives from Asia, Southeast Asia, the United Kingdom, Canada and Australia are expected to participate.

He highlighted that, as the constitutional head of the province and representative of the federation, the Governor’s support and role are crucial for the successful holding of the event.

Addressing the meeting, Governor Faisal Karim Kundi said the international event would not only promote women’s meaningful participation in governance but also serve as an effective platform to project a positive image of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Pakistan globally.

He said the event would help enhance parliamentary capacity, strengthen diplomatic engagement and improve institutional credibility of the province.

The Governor assured full cooperation in resolving any issues at the Federal level during the event. He termed the visit of parliamentary delegations from various countries an honour for the province and stressed the need to make the most of the opportunity.

He emphasized that the programme should be organized in a non-political manner in the larger national and provincial interest, showcasing Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as a peaceful, progressive and forward-looking region.

Faisal Karim Kundi further said that Governor House would extend all possible support for the event and play a facilitative role wherever required.

Earlier, the briefing highlighted that the event aims to strengthen linkages among women parliamentarians, enhance political and parliamentary leadership, promote mutual learning, and ensure exchange of best practices in gender-responsive governance, parliamentary participation and institutional development.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Governor welcomed the participants and appreciated their efforts, while the MPAs also lauded the encouraging stance of the Governor and paid tribute to the professionalism and dedication of the assembly staff.
