Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi on Monday strongly criticized the ongoing sit-in protest in the province, alleging that public life had been paralyzed while government facilities were being utilized by demonstrators

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Feb, 2026) Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi on Monday strongly criticized the ongoing sit-in protest in the province, alleging that public life had been paralyzed while government facilities were being utilized by demonstrators.

In a statement, the Governor said that KP House was itself a property of the provincial government and fully equipped with staff and kitchen facilities, questioning the rationale behind staging a protest while availing official resources.

He remarked that parliamentary business at the Parliament House was continuing uninterrupted, with committee meetings proceeding as per routine, and expressed surprise over claims regarding lack of facilities for the opposition.

The Governor alleged that major roads in the province had been blocked due to the sit-in, resulting in severe disruption to daily life.

He said while other provinces such as Punjab and Sindh were functioning normally, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was facing a standstill.

Criticizing the provincial government, he said the administration appeared indifferent to the difficulties being faced by citizens, particularly patients and elderly people affected by road closures.

The Governor also called upon the Federal government to fulfill its responsibility in ensuring that highways and key routes remain open, urging authorities to take necessary steps to restore normalcy.

He questioned why strict action had not been taken despite the protest allegedly involving a limited number of participants.

He emphasized that public welfare should not be compromised for political objectives and called for immediate measures to ease the hardships of the people.
