Governor KP lauds peaceful Muharram observance, commends forces, public

PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th Jun, 2026) Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi on Saturday paid tribute to the people of Pakistan and the security forces for ensuring the peaceful observance of Ashura across the country.

In a statement, the Governor appreciated the security arrangements made by the Pakistan Armed Forces and police, saying the successful conduct of Muharram processions and gatherings reflected the dedication and professionalism of all law enforcement agencies.

He congratulated Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, officials of the Ministry of Interior and other relevant authorities for their coordinated efforts in maintaining peace and security during Muharram.

Kundi said Muharram conveyed a timeless message of sacrifice, patience, justice and steadfastness, urging the nation to uphold these values in daily life.

He said the peaceful observance of Ashura reflected the maturity, religious harmony and unity of the Pakistani nation, adding that such solidarity was vital for overcoming challenges facing the country.

Referring to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kundi said the peaceful observance of Ashura was the result of the collective efforts of the Inspector General of Police, law enforcement agencies, peace committees, religious scholars from both Shia and Sunni communities, and the general public.

He said their commitment and cooperation ensured that all religious events were held with reverence and in a peaceful atmosphere.

The Governor expressed hope that the spirit of tolerance, sectarian harmony and unity demonstrated during Muharram would continue throughout the year.
