Governor KP stresses role of religious institutions in promoting peace, national unity

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 28th Jun, 2026) Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi on Sunday said that mosques, religious seminaries and spiritual institutions have a vital role to play in promoting lasting peace, stability and national unity in Pakistan, stressing that religious tolerance and sectarian harmony were the need of the hour.

He expressed these views during a meeting with renowned religious scholar Maulana Imran Bashir. Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentary Leader in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Ahmad Kundi was also present on the occasion.

The meeting discussed in detail matters relating to the promotion of religious tolerance, inter-sect harmony and strengthening national cohesion.

The participants also exchanged views on the positive role of religious scholars, spiritual leaders, mosques and shrines in ensuring peace and stability in the country.

Governor Kundi said that the teachings of Seerat-un-Nabi (Peace Be Upon Him) should be widely promoted to build the character of the younger generation and foster tolerance, brotherhood and moderation in society.

The meeting also reviewed measures for promoting the study of Seerat-un-Nabi (PBUH) in educational institutions across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and discussed practical initiatives in this regard.

They further deliberated on proposals to promote the translation and exegesis of the Holy Quran, curb the misuse of social media, strengthen religious harmony and enhance the moral and ethical training of the youth.
