Governor KP thanks PM for approving wheat supply to KP through PASCO

PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Jun, 2026) Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi on Thursday thanked Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif for approving the supply of wheat to the province through the Pakistan Agricultural Storage and Services Corporation (PASCO) and called for ensuring the unrestricted movement of wheat and flour from Punjab to meet the province’s requirements.

In a statement, the Governor said Khyber Pakhtunkhwa requires 3.6 million metric tons of wheat, adding that the Prime Minister had approved the supply of 200,000 metric tons through PASCO.

He said the movement of the remaining wheat from Punjab was still facing restrictions, alleging that wheat and flour were not being allowed into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa through nine checkpoints located along the inter-provincial border.

Kundi said that under the Constitution and the new wheat policy, the free movement of wheat and flour was the right of the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

He urged the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister of Punjab to take notice of the situation and ensure uninterrupted transportation of wheat and flour to the province.

The Governor stressed that, in addition to the PASCO allocation, the province’s wheat and flour requirements should be met without hindrance. He said the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa should not be deprived of their right to affordable wheat and flour.
