DERA ISMAIL KHAN, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 30th May, 2026) Governor, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Faisal Karim Kundi on Saturday directed Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) authorities to take all possible measures to address the problems being faced by gas consumers in Dera Ismail Khan and ensure improved service delivery across the district.

The directives were issued during a meeting with officials of SNGPL held here at Governor House. District President, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Malik Farhan Afzal Dhap was also present on the occasion.

During the meeting, the SNGPL Dera Ismail Khan (D I Khan) Sub-Area Incharge, Waqas Rustam Gandapur, Executive Engineer, Anwar Khan Ghaznikhel and Emergency Incharge, Muhammad Haroon briefed the governor on the progress of various ongoing gas-related projects in the district.

The participants also discussed arrangements for the inauguration of several gas expansion schemes in Dera Ismail Khan and reviewed plans aimed at improving gas supply to underserved areas.

Expressing serious concern over gas load shedding, Governor Kundi stressed that uninterrupted gas supply during breakfast and evening peak hours should be ensured to reduce the hardships faced by domestic consumers.

The officials informed the meeting that the destruction of the Shewa gas field during recent floods and its continued non-operational status had significantly affected gas availability in the region. They also highlighted technical issues related to the Darazinda gas system, which they said were contributing to unavoidable gas load shedding in Dera Ismail Khan.

The governor directed the authorities concerned to take immediate and effective steps to overcome these challenges and improve gas supply conditions.

The meeting further reviewed pending gas connections in Kotla Syedan, Korai, Gul Imam, Kokar and other areas.

Governor Kundi instructed officials to expedite the provision of long-awaited connections and initiate necessary measures for extending gas services to new localities.

The establishment of a regional gas office in Dera Ismail Khan also came under discussion. The participants noted that the proposed office would help resolve a wide range of consumer issues locally, providing greater convenience and faster access to services for residents.
