Governor Kundi highlights AI’s transformative role in healthcare and medical education

PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 6th Jun, 2026) Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi on Saturday said that Artificial Intelligence (AI) was bringing revolutionary changes to healthcare and medical education, enabling timely disease diagnosis, improved treatment methods, and better learning opportunities for future healthcare professionals.

Addressing the Healthcare Education Artificial Intelligence Summit at Rehman Medical Institute (RMI) Hayatabad, the Governor said Pakistan must fully harness modern technologies to strengthen its health and education sectors.

He said that the use of AI in medical education was helping students align themselves with future requirements and global advancements in healthcare.

He stressed the need to promote research, innovation and digital skills in universities and medical institutions, adding that the younger generation must be equipped with modern knowledge and technological expertise to effectively tackle emerging challenges.

Faisal Karim Kundi said the improvement of healthcare and education remained among the provincial government’s priorities, and modern technology could play a key role in enhancing public service delivery.

He emphasized that AI should be used responsibly, transparently, and in accordance with ethical principles, saying that technology should complement rather than replace human capabilities.

The Governor observed that compassion, humanity, and professional competence would always remain at the heart of healthcare services despite rapid technological progress.

He urged the experts, researchers, and institutions to strengthen collaboration for the promotion of innovation and the development of a healthier and more prosperous Pakistan.

He also described the summit as an important initiative for advancing knowledge, research, and innovation in the country.
