PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Jun, 2026) Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi has stepped up efforts for the establishment of a campus of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University (SBBWU) in Dera Ismail Khan to expand higher education opportunities for women in the southern districts of the province.
The matter was discussed during a meeting held at Governor House with senior officials of the university led by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Farhat Amin.
Speaking on the occasion, Governor Kundi said that the establishment of a women’s university campus in Dera Ismail Khan was a long-standing demand of the residents of southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as well as adjoining districts of Punjab.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>He emphasized that the proposed campus should prioritize academic programs and departments aligned with contemporary global requirements to equip women with modern skills and educational opportunities.
During the meeting, the university administration briefed the Governor on initial planning for the project and assured him that a preliminary draft of the proposed campus plan would be prepared and presented soon.
The initiative is expected to enhance access to higher education for female students in the region and contribute to the educational and socio-economic development of southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
