Governor Punjab pays tribute to Karbala Martyrs, praises Ashura security arrangements

RAWALPINDI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Jun, 2026) Governor Punjab Sardar Saleem Haider Khan has said that the supreme sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and the martyrs of Karbala remains an eternal symbol of truth, patience, perseverance, and the supremacy of islam, and will continue to be remembered with reverence for generations to come.

Speaking to the media during the central Ashura procession in Rawalpindi, the governor said millions of Muslims across Pakistan, along with believers around the world, were paying tribute to the martyrs of Karbala on Youm-e-Ashur.

He praised the coordinated efforts of law enforcement agencies, the Punjab government, district administration, religious scholars, traders, and citizens for maintaining peace and harmony during Muharram.

He also commended the comprehensive security arrangements and administrative measures put in place for Ashura, saying effective steps had been taken to ensure security, sanitation, and other public facilities.

The Governor Haider lauded the coordinated strategy adopted by the Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner, Regional Police Officer (RPO), City Police Officer (CPO), District Police Officers (DPOs), and the police force.

He specifically appreciated the efforts of the CPO Rawalpindi and DPO Attock, along with all relevant departments, for successfully maintaining law and order throughout Muharram.

He also acknowledged the cooperation of religious scholars, traders' associations, and the public, stressing that the country needs the same spirit of unity, harmony, and mutual cooperation to achieve lasting progress and stability.
