ATTOCK, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 30th May, 2026) Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan has said that politicians remain the only segment of society subjected to accountability by every institution as well as by the public, including bodies such as NAB, adding that responsibility for national shortcomings should not be placed on politicians alone.

He expressed these views on Saturday while addressing an Eid Milan party hosted in his honour by former chairman Haji Muhammad Khan. The gathering was also addressed by PPP District President Haji Malik Riasat Ali Sidhrial, Brigadier Asim Nawaz Khan and Malik Amanat Rawal, and attended by party workers, local dignitaries and community figures.

The Governor said he has dedicated his life to public service and, with the support of friends and philanthropists, has carried out welfare initiatives worth millions of rupees.

He also noted that he had never lobbied for the office of Governor, stating that his appointment came through divine blessing and the trust of party leadership. He thanked Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and the provincial education authorities for approving the establishment of a university in Attock, for which initial funding of Rs1.5 billion is expected to be released soon. The event concluded with a luncheon hosted for participants, including religious and political figures from the region.
