Governor Sindh hosts Easter ceremony at Governor House

KARACHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 5th Apr, 2026) An elegant Easter ceremony was hosted by Governor Sindh Syed Muhammad Nehal Hashmi at the Governor House for the Christian community, attended by distinguished local and foreign guests.

Addressing the ceremony, Governor Sindh Syed Muhammad Nehal Hashmi said that the purpose of the Easter event is to promote interfaith harmony, tolerance, and national unity. He stated that the Christian community is playing a significant role in the development and progress of the country, and that the doors of the Governor House remain open to people of all faiths. He further said that they equally share in the joy of Easter with their Christian brothers and that, in line with the vision of Muhammad Ali Jinnah, followers of all religions have the right to celebrate their festivals with complete freedom.

According to the press release issued, the ceremony was attended by Consul General of China Yang Yundong, Deputy High Commissioner of the United Kingdom Lance Domm, and members of the diplomatic corps from Russia, Germany, and other countries.

Minister of State for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Kheal Das Kohistani, Deputy Speaker Sindh Assembly Anthony Naveed, Bishop Frederick John, and other dignitaries were also present. The ceremony was organized with simplicity in line with the government’s austerity policy. Governor Sindh Syed Muhammad Nehal Hashmi extended heartfelt Easter greetings to the Christian community and cut an Easter cake along with the distinguished guests.

Special prayers were offered for the country’s development, prosperity, peace, security, and interfaith harmony. Kheal Das Kohistani, Lance Domm, Anthony Naveed, Bishop Frederick John and Asher Albert also expressed their views, appreciating the spirit of unity, tolerance, and brotherhood.
