Govt endeavoring for welfare of labourers: Engr Amir Muqam

CHAKWAL, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 1st May, 2026) Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs, Gilgit-Baltistan and SAFRON, Engineer Amir Muqam, here Friday, said that International Labour Day is a day to renew the commitment to securing the rights of the working class, which was declared to be observed globally in 1889.

Addressing a large public gathering as the chief guest in the area of Choa Saidan Shah here on the occasion of the Battle of Truth and Labour Day, he said that the position he holds today is because of the people and the workers.

Praising the leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, he said that under their wise and strong leadership, Pakistan is achieving remarkable successes in development, stability, and national security.

The Federal Minister said that he considers himself a representative of workers and the poor, and that all possible measures will be taken to resolve their issues.

He announced that efforts would be intensified to register workers with EOBI, while practical steps would also be taken in light of the recommendations of the Workers Welfare Fund and the Mineral Department.

Engr Amir Muqam said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the government is taking serious measures to protect workers’ rights and resolve public issues, and is working day and night for the country’s economic improvement.

Speaking about the regional and international situation, Engr Amir Muqam said that Pakistan achieved success against the enemy last year and proved its effective role for peace in the region.

He termed the decision of PMLN Quaid Muhammad Nawaz Sharif to conduct nuclear tests as courageous, stating that it made Pakistan’s defense invincible.

He said that network of motorways is also one of the gifts of former Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, which is a great facility benefiting all.

Engineer Amir Muqam said that the “Battle of Truth” will be celebrated with traditional enthusiasm, ensuring the active participation of workers.

He further said that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff/CDF Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir have played a very important and effective role in promoting peace, stability, and security in the country.

Today, Pakistan is emerging as a strong voice for peace, dialogue, and stability. He said that we pay tribute to the Pakistan Armed Forces, whose sacrifices and professional capabilities have ensured peace in the country and paved the way for development.

He added that Pakistan is playing an important role in establishing global peace, and despite difficult economic conditions, the government is reducing expenditures to provide maximum relief to the public.

Referring to the performance of the Punjab government, he said that Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz is working day and night for the province’s development and to resolve public issues, and that other provinces should also learn from Punjab’s development strategy.

At the end of his speech, he reaffirmed the government’s commitment to continue efforts for the welfare of the working class, national development, and stability.

On this occasion, President of Pakistan Workers Federation Haji Noorullah Yousafzai, Organizer Punjab Pakistan Mines Workers Federation and Industrial Global Union Rahmat Ali Yousafzai, General Secretary Sharifuddin Yousafzai, and Raja Mujahid also addressed the gathering. They thanked the Federal Minister and expressed full confidence in his leadership.
