QUETTA, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Apr, 2026) The Balochistan government on Thursday constituted a high-level committee to conduct a comprehensive audit of the use and allocation of government vehicles across the province.
This step has been taken in light of the instructions of the Chief Minister Balochistan to ensure effective and transparent use of government resources.
According to the official notification, the Secretary Services and General Administration Department (S&GAD) has been appointed as the chairman of the committee, while the Secretary Finance and the Secretary Services, Transport and Administration Department will be its members.
The committee was directed to conduct a complete audit of government vehicles in use in all administrative departments, affiliated institutions, autonomous bodies and subordinate offices and to review whether the vehicles are being used in accordance with the prescribed rules and regulations.
According to the official notification, the committee will also identify cases where vehicles are being used in excess of the prescribed entitlement or without proper approval.
In addition, issues such as misuse of vehicles, illegal allotment and unnecessary maintenance will also be reviewed.
The notification further stated that the committee would also propose corrective measures and recommendations for transparent use, effective management and better monitoring of government vehicles, while also making suggestions regarding the return or disposal of surplus vehicles.
The committee will also review the Balochistan Civil car Rules 1988 and, if necessary, suggest amendments to them to make the system more effective.
All government departments have been directed to nominate a focal person of Grade 19 within 48 hours to liaise with the committee and provide the required records, data and information.
The committee will submit its comprehensive report with recommendations to the competent authority within 15 days.
