Govt taking serious steps for development of backward areas to ensure welfare of public in Kohlu: Commissioner

QUETTA, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th Apr, 2026) Commissioner Koh-e-Sulaiman Division Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Qambrani on Friday said the Balochistan government is taking serious steps for the development of backward areas and public welfare would be ensured by utilizing all resources.

He said this while inspecting various development projects during his visit to Kohlu and chaired a meeting to review the progress of ongoing development projects under PSDP 2025-26 on special directive of Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti.

In the meeting, Commissioner Koh-e-Sulaiman Division was given a detailed briefing regarding the pace and quality of work on projects related to health, education, clean drinking water, road construction, agriculture and livestock.

The Commissioner directed the officers to complete all development projects within the stipulated time and no delay or negligence would be tolerated.

He clarified that strict legal action would be taken against contractors who do substandard work. The officers should take immediate and effective steps to ensure timely and quality completion of projects of public interest so that facilities could be provided to the public as soon as possible.

Officers from various departments, including Deputy Commissioner Kohlu, were also present in the meeting, who informed the Commissioner about the progress made in their respective fields.

Commissioner Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Qambrani said the purpose of the newly established Koh-e-Sulaiman Division in the vision of Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti was to improve administrative affairs in backward districts and enable immediate resolution of public problems.

He said that with the establishment of this division, the people of Kohlu, Barkhan and Upper Dera Bugti would no longer need to go far to solve their problems, but problems would be addressed effectively at the local level.

He added that the Balochistan government is taking serious steps for the development of backward areas and public welfare would be ensured by utilizing all resources.

Later, the Commissioner visited various under-construction projects in which he took a detailed review of the ongoing development work on Kohlu-Rakni Highway.

On this occasion, he was given a comprehensive briefing by the concerned authorities regarding the progress of the project, quality of construction and the problems being faced.

The Commissioner directed that the construction activities of the highway should be further accelerated and all available resources should be utilized to complete the project within the stipulated time frame, any delay or substandard work would not be tolerated and strict action to be taken against those responsible.

On this occasion, Commissioner Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Qambrani emphasized the importance of the highway and said that the Kohlu-Rakni highway would play a key role in the economic and social development of the area.

He said that the completion of this highway would not only improve the land connectivity of Kohlu with other districts but could also promote the trade activities of Balochistan with Punjab, which would provide employment and travel facilities to the local population.

The Commissioner of Koh Suleman Division also conducted a detailed inspection of the Sports Stadium Kohlu. On this occasion, he visited different parts of the stadium and reviewed the existing facilities, condition of the ground, seating arrangements for spectators and other infrastructure.

The Commissioner directed the concerned authorities to ensure the provision of quality and modern sports facilities to attract the youth in the district towards healthy activities. If the sports grounds are developed, the youth would stay away from negative activities and utilize their talents in a positive manner.

Deputy Commissioner Kohlu Azeem Jan Dummar, while briefing the Commissioner, said that the district administration has allocated Rs 9 million for the construction and repair of the sports stadium under BSDI, the tender process for which would be completed soon and the development work would be started formally.

He said that the project would include improvement of the ground, repair of the pavilion, restoration of the drainage system and other necessary facilities.

The Commissioner formally inaugurated the prefabrication construction project under the provision of modern residential facilities for the district officers during the visit.

Commissioner Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Qambrani said that providing better residential facilities to district officers was one of the government's priorities, which would not only improve the performance of officers but also make the delivery of services in remote areas more effective, modern prefab constructions are an effective means of providing quality housing in a short time.

On this occasion, the Commissioner was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Kohlu Azeem Jan Dummar, Axon Building Jaffer Khan Zarkoon and other relevant officers.
